Jeffrey C. Clayton, Pastor

Ordained in 1982, Jeff Clayton received the call to become pastor of Southminster Presbyterian Church on December 12, 1999. Pastor Clayton has diverse experience in pastoral ministry, including small church ministry, university ministry, as well as several positions in larger metropolitan areas. He received his B.A. from Duke University and his M.Div. from Yale Divinity School. He has also studied at the University of Edinburgh in Edinburgh, Scotland. Pastor Clayton indicates that attention to beautiful and relevant worship of God, mission to fulfill Christ’s call to love our neighbors, and nurturing a compassionate, welcoming, dynamic common ministry are some of his priorities in ministry.

Chad Herring, Associate Pastor

Chad attended Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, where he received a BA in Religious Studies in 1997. In 2000, Chad received his M.Div. from the University of Chicago Divinity school and entered their Ph.D. program in Theological Ethics. In 2004, after completing his doctoral qualifying exams, Chad studied as a chaplain at Rush University Medical Center and was asked in 2005 to join the staff of his own congregation as a pastoral intern. After receiving his call from Southminster in July 2005, Chad was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament. His doctoral studies are ongoing as he works to complete his dissertation in conjunction with his ministry here.

Stephanie A. Henry, D.M.A., Director of Music and Organist

A native of the Boston area, Dr. Stephanie Henry studied at the University of Lowell in Massachusetts where she received a Bachelor of Music degree. She then migrated to the West Coast where she received a Master of Fine Arts degree from UCLA, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Southern California in 1985. Dr. Henry has extensive teaching and conducting experience. She joined the staff of Southminster as Director of Music and Organist in December, 2001. In addition to her duties here, she is also the Artistic Director of the Kansas City Women’s Chorus.

Lynn Tolson, Secretary

Lynn Tolson joined the Southminster staff in July, 2000. She brings wonderful organizational skills, a talent for designing our publications, skills in bookkeeping, and a pleasant personality and sense of humor to our office. Lynn is our full-time secretary and works Monday through Friday in our church office.
